Recommendations by welfare organisations suggest that between 1 & 1.5 square feet of floor space per bird is provided for housing adult large breed birds permanently indoors, as The Highlander has 21.5sq feet of floor space we suggest that 12 large breed birds would be the ideal number, this stocking level gives each bird plenty of space when they have to be kept indoors for reasons such as bio security or bad weather etc, Note: if you keep bantams then due to their smaller size then more birds could be kept, all stocking levels are up to the individual
